Mr. Pickles and Sailor Bear Toy Shoppe at The Equestrian Hotel presents a FREE Breyer Fun Day, Saturday, May 21 from 10am-2pm. The Breyer Fun Day, will feature real-life appearances by Mary Phelps and her renowned combined driving team, Bugsy Maloney and Tony Da Pony, playfully known as “The Gangsters.” Children and adults alike can purchase their very own Breyer “Gangster” model at Mr. Pickles and Sailor Bear Toy Shoppe, which Mary Phelps will sign in person at the event.
Bugsy Maloney and Tony Da Pony are a part of the Breyer 2020 collection, a “celebrity” models line, which is discontinued after a very successful two-year run. But never fear, World Equestrian Center – Ocala has set aside their last order for this special day. Stop in for your chance to own your own collectable pair of the infamous driving ponies!
Mary Phelps and her ponies will give an exciting combined driving demonstration in the Grand Outdoor Arena. Fans can meet the ponies, take photos and paint a Stablemate model courtesy of Breyer on the terrace outside the toy shoppe. Bring the whole family out and make a day of it at World Equestrian Center while enjoying this fun, free event!
A Year To Remember
Mary Phelps brought all four ponies to Europe to train with her longtime friend and coach Bram Chardon. Chardon is the 2022 European Four-In-Hand Driving Champion, and the 2022 World Cup Indoor Driving Champion. Mary was 68 years old at the time, and her ponies were the smallest in the competition. And guess what? They finished 12th overall, and won the cones portion of the competition, a Gold Medal for Team USA!
They were planning a triumphant visit to Breyerfest in July of 2020, but COVID-19 changed the plan. They kept training, and now with four matching ponies, they’ve made the big leap to Four In Hand!
Mary and her team are excited to have the ponies wearing their special Breyer Blankets at the iconic World Equestrian Center – Ocala, just 30 miles from their home in Micanopy, FL.
