The WEC Stadium played host to 32 horse-and-rider combinations who gathered to contest the $10,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix over tracks built by FEI Level III course designer, Joey Rycroft (CAN). Six entries delivered clean first rounds and three jumped double clear, but it was Guido Klatte (GER) and Guido Klatte International Horse Transport’s Van Halen Z (Vigo D Arsouilles Stx x Cismet Z) that landed the blue ribbon.
Klatte and 10-year-old Zangersheide gelding created a fast and smooth first round in 79.399 seconds. The pair advanced straight to the jump-off, galloping through the entire course not pumping the brakes once, to stop the clock at 35.389 seconds for the win.
Just behind Klatte and Van Halen Z was Kelli Cruciotti Vanderveen (USA) and Serenity Farm’s Isabella Van De Zuuthoeve with a fast jump-off time of 35.436 seconds, just four hundredths of a second behind Klatte and Van Halen Z.
Richard Rinehart (USA) and Ron Caraway’s Vincent (Van Gogh x Nirande) were the last pair to produce a double clear round in 36.101 seconds.
