October 12, 2023 – Ocala, FL – The 2023 November and December Show Series at World Equestrian Center – Ocala is set to host a distinguished lineup of globally acclaimed course designers who will design the show jumping courses within the prestigious WEC Grand Arena. This four-week series will feature Premier Hunter/Level 6 Jumper competitions approved by US Equestrian, taking place from November 8-19, 2023, and again from December 5-17. The December shows will feature Fédération Equestre International (FEI) CSI3* competition. The internationally renowned course designers tasked with crafting the jumper courses are Oscar Soberon (USA), Peter Grant (CAN), Guilherme Jorge (BRA), and Catsy Cruz (MEX).
Kicking off the series is Peter Grant (CAN), an internationally renowned FEI Level III course designer. Grant’s reputation is firmly established through his extensive experience at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada, where he has crafted numerous challenging CSI5* courses since 2004. Grant has assisted at elite championships including the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the 2007 and 2017 FEI Jumping World Cup™ Finals, and the 2010 and 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games. Grant has a history of designing notable courses at World Equestrian Center – Ocala since its inception.
In Week II of the November series, highly accomplished FEI Level III course designer boasting nearly two decades of design expertise, Oscar Soberon (USA) will assume the responsibility for course design. His remarkable skills have graced prestigious events such as the Pan American Games, the Winter Equestrian Festival, and many more. Soberon has assisted in the course construction for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2009 Las Vegas World Cup Finals™, in addition to his involvement in numerous CSI shows and Nations Cups throughout his illustrious career.
Guilherme Jorge will undertake the task of designing the FEI three-star courses during the first week of December shows, which take place amid the enchanting Winter Wonderland at World Equestrian Center – Ocala. As an accomplished FEI Level IV course designer, Jorge has designed for the world’s most prestigious championships. His portfolio includes the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, the 2005 and 2007 FEI Jumping World Cup™ Finals, the 2007 Rio de Janeiro Pan American Games, numerous CSI5* competitions, and most recently, his involvement in the $500,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI5* in Wellington, Florida.
Concluding the series, Ana Catalina “Catsy” Cruz will preside over the final week of FEI three-star competition. Cruz’s intricate and elegant designs have earned accolades among exhibitors at World Equestrian Center – Ocala and riders around the world in her two decades of course building. As a highly skilled FEI Level III course designer, she has built for international competitions including the Winter Equestrian Festival, HITS Saugerties, Traverse City Horse Shows, as well as in Kentucky and San Juan Capistrano, California. She assisted the course design at the 2022 Las Vegas National CSI4*-W in Nevada and has worked with the biggest names in course design, including Arno Gego, Bob Ellis, Leopoldo Palacios, and Frank Rothenberger at competitions in Monterrey, Mexico; Aachen, Germany; Hickstead, England; and Calgary, Canada.
