Luke Rinehart & The Diamant Rose Z Prevail in the $30,000 Grand Prix of WEC – Wilmington Winter Classic 6

Wilmington, OH – Jumpers once again took center stage in the Standlee Sanctuary at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington (WEC) during Winter Classic 6. A competitive field vied for top honors, but it was last-to-go Luke Rinehart who ultimately prevailed, besting his father’s time aboard The Diamant Rose Z (Toulon x Diamant Z) with the fastest effort of the evening.

Only four combinations advanced to the jump-off with clear first rounds, and just three went on to deliver double-clear performances.

Richard Rinehart was first to return, setting the early pace aboard his own Lorstakov (Lordanos x Milena V). He guided the 17-year-old Holsteiner gelding to a quick and efficient round, stopping the clock at 40.196 seconds.

Michael Janson followed with Kimberly Janson’s Ringo Star PS (Cicero Z x Hivita), producing another clear effort aboard the nine-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, but he came up just fractions short in 40.416 seconds.

Ragan Roberts gave it a strong effort with Queen Bee Z, but a pair of rails kept the pair out of contention.

Last to go, Luke Rinehart was poised to challenge his father’s leading time. Aboard the seasoned 15-year-old Zangersheide mare, The Diamant Rose Z, he flew around the short course, taking tidy turns and leaving out strides to stop the clock in a blistering 38.926 seconds, rising to the top of the leaderboard and galloping away with the lion’s share of the prize money.
