SMS and Text Message Policy and Terms
Proposed addition to WEC’s Privacy Policy and User Agreement
Effective Date: August 24, 2026
This SMS and Text Message Policy and Terms (the “SMS Policy”) supplements the WORLD EQUESTRIAN CENTER (“WEC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) Privacy Policy and User Agreement and governs WEC’s optional text message notification program (the “SMS Program”).
Who and What the SMS Program Covers
The SMS Program may be offered to WEC show and event attendees, exhibitors, competitors, participants, trainers, owners, vendors, judges, officials, volunteers, hotel guests, restaurant patrons, and other persons who interact with WEC. Messages are limited to operational information relating to the WEC event, activity, service, reservation, stay, order, or relationship for which you enroll. Messages may include show or event scheduling and status; entry, check-in, stabling, venue, weather, safety, or logistical updates; participant, judge, official, vendor, or volunteer instructions; hotel reservation and stay information; restaurant waitlist, table-ready, or food-and-beverage order notifications; HELP responses; and opt-out confirmations. The SMS Program does not include marketing or promotional messages unless you separately consent to a different program.
Consent and Agreement
You enroll only through an affirmative action, such as replying YES or START after receiving an enrollment disclosure or selecting an unchecked SMS option through an authorized WEC channel. By opting in and providing a mobile telephone number, you authorize WEC and its service providers to use automated technology to send the operational text messages described above to that number. You also acknowledge and agree to this SMS Policy and the WEC Privacy Policy and User Agreement identified in the enrollment disclosure. Consent is voluntary and is not a condition of purchasing goods or services. Providing a telephone number without affirmatively opting in does not enroll you.
Any separate terms governing your show or event participation, entry, vendor or contractor relationship, volunteer role, hotel stay, restaurant transaction, or use of WEC property remain separately applicable when presented or agreed to in connection with that relationship. Opting in to the SMS Program does not replace those terms.
Message Frequency and Charges
Message frequency varies based on the events, activities, services, reservations, stays, orders, or other matters for which you enroll. You may receive multiple messages while the applicable matter is active. Message and data rates may apply. Your wireless carrier’s rates and terms govern.
Opt-Out and Help
You may revoke consent and stop SMS Program messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. We may send one final message confirming your opt-out. After that confirmation, we will not send additional SMS Program messages to that number unless you affirmatively opt in again. Other standard opt-out keywords may also be recognized. For help, reply HELP or visit worldequestriancenter.com/contact/.
Mobile Information and Privacy
We may collect your mobile number; the date, time, source, and language of your consent; information connecting the messages to the applicable event, activity, service, reservation, stay, order, or relationship; message and delivery data; and your HELP, STOP, or other responses. We use that information to provide, administer, secure, document, and improve the SMS Program; honor your choices; resolve questions or disputes; prevent misuse; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent mobile information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties for their own use. We may disclose mobile information to service providers that act solely on WEC’s behalf to operate or support the SMS Program, and as required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business transaction, subject to appropriate use and confidentiality restrictions.
Number Responsibility, Delivery, and Limitations
You represent that you are the subscriber or customary user of the mobile number provided and are authorized to consent to messages at that number. You agree to reply STOP or otherwise notify WEC before changing or relinquishing the number. Message delivery depends on wireless carriers and is not guaranteed. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and the SMS Program may not be available through every carrier, device, or location.
The SMS Program is provided as a convenience and should not be used for emergencies or as the sole source of time-sensitive instructions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, WEC is not responsible for delayed, failed, incomplete, or misdirected messages caused by carriers, networks, devices, inaccurate information, or events outside WEC’s reasonable control. The disclaimers and limitations in the WEC User Agreement also apply. Nothing in this SMS Policy excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Security, Retention, and Changes
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and retain mobile information and consent, delivery, and opt-out records as reasonably necessary to operate the SMS Program, document compliance, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal obligations. No transmission or storage method is completely secure.
WEC may modify, suspend, or terminate the SMS Program or this SMS Policy. Material changes will be posted with an updated Effective Date. If a change would materially expand the types or frequency of messages covered by your existing consent, WEC will obtain additional consent when required by applicable law.
Contact and Incorporated Terms

The WEC Privacy Policy and User Agreement are incorporated into this SMS Policy. Their governing-law, dispute-resolution, and other general provisions apply to the SMS Program. If this SMS Policy conflicts with those documents regarding the SMS Program, this SMS Policy controls to the extent of the conflict.
Required Text Acceptance Language
The recipient should receive or initiate this disclosure through an authorized WEC enrollment channel before replying YES or START. The Privacy Policy, User Agreement, and SMS Policy links must be available to the recipient before acceptance.
Recommended enrollment text: WEC: Reply YES for automated operational texts about your WEC event, role, stay, reservation, order or service. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. STOP to opt out; HELP for help. Replying YES means you agree to WEC’s SMS Policy: worldequestriancenter.com/sms. Consent not required to purchase.
Recommended acceptance confirmation: WEC Alerts: You are enrolled in operational text notifications. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
Recommended STOP confirmation: WEC Alerts: You have been unsubscribed and will receive no further SMS Program messages unless you opt in again.
Website Placement
To preserve one controlling policy, publish the full text at a short, public WEC URL such as worldequestriancenter.com/sms. Add a clearly labeled, conspicuous link to that policy in both the WEC Privacy Policy and WEC User Agreement. The enrollment disclosure and Twilio campaign submission should use the same program scope, consent method, message frequency, and opt-out language. The SMS Policy page and both cross-references must be publicly accessible without login.
