Jad Dana & Leonidas Proved Unbeatable in the $40,000 World Sport Horse Sales National Grand Prix

Ocala, FL – Featured class competition wrapped up on Sunday during Week I of the 2025 December Show Series at World Equestrian Center – Ocala (WEC). Twenty-eight top Jumping pairs vied for the final win of the week in the $40,000 World Sport Horse Sales National Grand Prix, but ultimately it was Jad Dana (LBN) who proved simply uncatchable aboard Burr Associates, Inc.’s Leonidas (Kannan x Truus).

FEI Level III course designer Catsy Cruz (USA) showcased her talent once again with a winding, technical track that asked riders to answer several questions within a tidy time allowed. Seven duos navigated a clear first round, advancing to the jump-off: Jad Dana, Sharn Wordley with three rides, Tracy Fenney with two mounts, and Dominique Damico, setting the stage for a true battle of speed.

Returning first for the jump-off, Dana knew he “had to lay it down” aboard the nine-year-old KWPN gelding. “From one to two, I did eight strides, which was less than anybody else did. Basically, I was parallel to the second jump and only had one stride where he saw the jump. Into the in-and-out, I also did eight strides, which I don’t think anyone else did either. He has such a big stride, and he’s very fast. Sometimes in jump-offs, the distances and the turns just show up, and today they did.”

The pair’s blistering fast 35.997 seconds proved untouchable, keeping them atop the leaderboard for the remainder of the class.

Leonidas has been a long-time partner for Dana. “I’ve had him since he was six years old. I must say, starting end of winter and into the early spring, he started to come into his own. He started jumping in some bigger classes, and he’s been very competitive. He’s very fast. That’s how I like them,” he laughed. “He won a National Grand Prix a few weeks ago, and a FEI class a couple of weeks ago. He’s a solid horse, and it’s very nice to have him in my string.”

Looking ahead to the 2026 Winter Spectacular Show circuit, Dana shared his appreciation for the venue. “I love this place, I really do. The ring is great, the stabling, the people, the office staff, the on-site media, and the ingates. Everyone is so accommodating, and the staff really want to do what’s best for the riders and the horses. Sometimes I have to show 10 horses in a day, and I don’t get stressed because the staff here always makes things work and the show runs so smoothly.”

Tracy Fenney (USA) claimed second aboard MTM Can Talk To Me (Catoki x Ocarina). She and the nine-year-old Holsteiner mare flew through the short course in 37.463 seconds, just over a second off the winning pace, to secure the red ribbon.

New Zealand’s Sharn Wordley rounded out the podium with Hagelin (Stolzenberg x Graefin Top), owned by Della Worldey. Wordley capitalized on the 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding’s natural footspeed to finish in a slick 39.075 seconds for third. He also claimed fourth with Mick Jagger and fifth with Conto Blanco 4.

Audrey Muscari earned the Fastest Four-Faulter award riding Chester Du Roset, posting a quick 80.299-second first round with just one rail down.

Kyle Dewar received the ‘Luck of the Draw’ award.
