WEC – Ocala Announces Increased Biosecurity Measures & Show Cancellations Amid EHV-1 Concerns

Updated: November 21, 2025, at 5:30pm – Ocala, FL – World Equestrian Center – Ocala (WEC) is implementing additional precautionary measures following confirmed cases of Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) connected to recent events in Texas. Out of an abundance of caution, WEC is cancelling the following upcoming events to help protect the health and safety of all horses on the property:

  • Holiday Festival Arabian & Half Arabian Show, November 25-29 
  • Fiddler’s Turkey Run Barrel Racing Event, November 26–29
  • FPHC Florida Holiday Classic, December 3–7
  • FQHA Last Chance Futurities & Shows, December 4–6

New Arrival Requirements
Effective immediately, all horses arriving on WEC grounds must meet the following requirements:

  • A 14-day Health Certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian is required for every horse, including those arriving from within Florida.
  • All paperwork will be checked at the entrance gates. Horses without proper and current documentation will not be admitted.
