Wilmington, Ohio – Amy Krebs (USA) proved unbeatable once again with her top mount Jabantos (Corsari Van De Helle x Cassima) in the $30,000 Ohio State University Galbreath Equine Center Grand Prix of World Equestrian Center – Wilmington Winter Classic 15.
Immediately after her blazing jump-off round, Krebs was off to the junior hunters and equitation horses, “I am a little jittery! I’m not sure how the hunters will go after that adrenaline rush,” Krebs laughed. “It has actually been a slow day until now. I braided my three jumpers and my hunter this morning. My day just got started!”
In a five-horse jump-off, it was Krebs with all three of her entered mounts, and Sarah Meier (USA) with her two.
Krebs set the initial pace, posting a double clear effort in 36.613 seconds with her own 11-year-old KWPN gelding, Ike (Spartacus x Twister), ultimately securing third place.
“My first one was a little bit slower because I wasn’t sure of the track. I went in for a double clean on him. My next horse was a little greener, I didn’t leave out strides and had the last rail but we are really proud of her,” Krebs continued.
Sarah Meier and her own 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, Nightshade SCF (Baldev x Olisina), did not leave any room for error, crossing the timers in 33.583 seconds to put the pressure on Krebs.
“I saw that Sarah’s time was two seconds faster than my fastest one. I walked down the ramp on Elijah [Jabantos] and heard everyone cheering and I knew I had to do the leave out in the first line. It was the one spot where I knew I could make up the time. Again, I trust this horse so much and I knew he could do it, and he did it very well!”
Executing her plan with ease, Krebs and her 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding took their second win of the week in 32.691 seconds.
Krebs commented on her successful winter season, “This has been really rewarding. All season long, I have had Elijah go clear in every single first round of the grand prix that we have done. To have all three of them clear in the first round was a great way to end my season here.”

Izzy Beisel & Vegas H Speed to Win in the $10,000 Horse Vans LLC Futures Prix of Winter Classic 15
Sixteen rising horses and athletes took to the Standlee Sanctuary for the $10,000 Horse Vans LLC Futures Prix to begin featured competition Saturday afternoon at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington Winter Classic 15. Decorated junior athlete, Izzy Beisel (USA), ultimately sped to the win with Vegas H (Valentino x Cobrah).
The pair stepped down from their usual Saturday grand prix for a mental reset, “It was nice to hit reset this week and to do another class. I knew there were a lot of quick horse and rider pairs, so I was trying to be efficient in the jump-off, but still keep it comfortable for both of us. It was a lot of fun!”
As the second to go in the posted order, Beisel set the winning pace in 37.911 seconds.
Beisel has been a frequent competitor during the 2024 Winter in the Midwest Series over course designer Michael Pegg’s (CAN) tracks and commented on his design in the class.
“I really like Mike’s courses. I think they are always unique, but they are always set appropriately for the class and the riders in it. I think the futures was nice and inviting, but still there were some challenges. The time allowed was tight for some people, and the way he set the jumps you still had to keep landing and turning,” Beisel shared.
The young rider of David Beisel Stables expressed her gratitude for the partnership on the 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding, “I want to say thank you to Mrs. Berling for partnering with us on this horse. He really is so special and we wouldn’t be able to do it without her.”
“We will be here this summer, you can’t keep us away,” Beisel laughed. “We are doing a lot of Traverse City, which I am excited about. We might do one week in Kentucky and we are also doing Devon this year which I am extremely excited for,” she shared on her upcoming horse show plans.
Michael Janson (USA) of Legacy Farms in Berkley, Massachusetts, had a banner night earning second and third place.
Janson piloted the seven-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, Ringo Star PS (Cicero Z x Hivita), to second place in 38.368 seconds, and the 17-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, Caveman Z (Carthargo Z x Amelia Z), to third place in 39.793 seconds.
