Wilhelm Genn Scores Second Consecutive $30,000 Grand Prix Win at WEC – Wilmington Winter Classic 9

Wilmington, Ohio – The $30,000 Grand Prix of Winter Classic 9 was the featured event of the week at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington (WEC). FEI Level III course designer Oscar Soberon designed a technical track for the field of horse-and-athlete combinations that allowed four riders to advance to the jump-off phase.

For the second week in a row, it was Wilhelm Genn who was unbeatable, this time aboard Klaus Mauer’s Katinka (Kannan x Maylin).

The 10-year-old Oldenburg mare has been in top form in the Standlee Sanctuary securing numerous double clear rounds and podium finishes.

The duo was the first to produce a clear effort as the second to go in the posted order.

Returning first for the short course, Genn stopped the clock in 35.636 seconds and proved uncatchable as the rest followed, ultimately securing the win.

Amanda Harris and her own 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, VDL Maverick (Tinkas Boy), crossed the timers in 36.882 seconds to secure second place.

Rounding out the top three was Sarah Meier and her 12-year-old Selle Francais gelding, Karlson HH (Kannan x Corona Ls), in 38.14 seconds.
