Wilmington, Ohio – It was another victorious day for Richard Rinehart, claiming the win in the $30,000 OSU Galbreath Equine Center Grand Prix at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington Winter Classic 15 aboard The Diamant Rose Z.
Rinehart felt that Michael Pegg (CAN) set properly for the class, ultimately with a jump-off ending in a footrace between Rinehart and Izzy Beisel.

“Mike set a very nice course. It was very friendly, and the horses all jumped the track very well. I thought the jump-off was long enough that you could open and close the stride, you couldn’t run the whole way around. It was a good track for my horse because she is so fast across the ground,” Rinehart shared.
Aboard The Diamant Rose Z, Rinehart has racked up wins in Wilmington over the winter circuit and expressed his gratitude for the talent in his barn.

“She knows what she’s doing. She just walks right in and jumps this class. Our family is very lucky to have her, and Luke [Rinehart] really enjoys riding her too. We have been trading back and forth,” he laughed.
With the 14-year-old Zangersheide mare, Rinehart wasted no time around the short course to stop the clock in a winning time of 40.471 seconds.

“My plan was to just be efficient and open the stride where I could. After the black oxer, the fourth jump in the jump-off, she got away from me a little bit,” he noted. “I went wider in the turn then what I had pictured, but I was really happy that she was willing to come back so nicely to the in-and-out and made a great effort.”

Beisel returned to contest the jump-off with two of her mounts, Contigo and Vegas H, though she was unable to unseat Rinehart’s winning time.

With the 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Contigo, she earned second place in 41.447 seconds, and third place with the 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding, Vegas H, in 41.863 seconds.

Legendary Day for William Dow – Winner of the $10,000 Futures Prix of Winter Classic 15
Michael Pegg crafted a track Saturday afternoon for the $10,000 Futures Prix that saw seven horse-and-rider combinations move onto the immediate jump-off phase, but it was William Dow and Jaime McGrath’s Legend of Diva that were untouchable.

Dow shared about his partnership with Legend of Diva and was complimentary of his mount, “He is a really great horse. He loves to win, and he loves to go fast!”

“He is owned by a client of mine, Jaime McGrath. We bought him as a six-year-old from Belgium and brought him up. Jaime shows in the .90m and the 1.0m and every once in a while, I get to take the reins and jump some bigger classes. He is super solid.”
The duo jumped a consistent double clear effort in last week’s class and returned in top form. Dow found Pegg’s track to be an appropriate challenge, “Mike does a great job of using the whole ring and asking the right questions. He had the perfect amount in the jump-off. The jump-off left many options to either go in and make it fast or play it safe if you needed to. It was a great feeling today and it asked the right questions.”

The nine-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding jumped an easy clear first round and moved on to lead the jump-off with a time of 33.793 seconds.
With a barn full of 17 horses in Wilmington for the past two weeks, Dow “appreciates the facility and the horse shows in Ohio,” he noted.

“We love Wilmington. We have showed at both facilities, but the last three years we have been coming here for a few weeks. We love the facility, the staff and the rings. The horses jump well here, and it is great training. It is a well-oiled machine. With 17 horses, we can get all of our showing and training done and still be out at a decent hour. We really enjoy our time at this venue.”

David Crawford and the 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Australian American Equine Partners LLC, Ivy, landed the red ribbon in 34.272 seconds.

Victoria Andersen-Helwig rounded out the top three aboard her own, Avatar, in 34.838 seconds.
