Bettendorf & Good Girl DK Secure $32,000 Grand Prix Qualifier CSI2* at WEC – Wilmington Spring 2
28 MAY 26 Wilmington, OH
Wilmington, Ohio – A bright and sunny morning at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington (WEC) Spring 2 set the stage for 24 horse-and-rider combinations representing seven different nations in the $32,000 Grand Prix Qualifier CSI2*. Luxembourg’s Charlotte Bettendorf continued her hot streak, securing her third featured win of the series aboard Good Girl DK (By Ceira D’ick x Kannan).

Thirteen partnerships returned to contest the jump-off track set by FEI Level III course designer Catsy Cruz (USA), but Bettendorf set the unbeatable time as the second rider to return.
Fresh off her win in last week’s $32,000 1.45m Time First Round, the 10-year-old Selle Français mare proved that speed is her strong suit. “She’s so quick and unbelievable. She won in Kentucky in the ranking class, and she won again last week,” Bettendorf reflected. “Today’s jump-off was really nice for her because there was a lot of cantering, and she loves that. It was amazing and so much fun doing jump-offs with this mare.”

Returning with both of her entered mounts for the short course, Bettendorf noted, “I had two in it, so my plan going in was a little different with each horse. I was second to go, and I know this mare is very quick, so I really went for it everywhere. The seven strides to the last jump was getting very long actually, but she just stretched a little bit and it was no problem.”

“With the second one, I know she’s not quite as fast, so I wanted to do a nice round that was still quick. To finish first and fifth, I really couldn’t ask for better this morning,” she smiled.
The duo stopped the clock in 37.53 seconds, with no rider coming within two seconds of their leading time.

“I’m very grateful for the horses I have. I have a great owner supporting me, and I have a great team behind me. Otherwise, none of this would be possible. I’m excited about what the future brings, and I really hope to keep moving up in the levels,” Bettendorf shared in appreciation of the team behind her recent success.
Bettendorf and her team at JFK Farms made their first trip to WEC – Wilmington during the 2026 Winter in the Midwest Series, finding both success in the ring and an enjoyable experience. “I also really like coming to Ohio. It’s a beautiful area, I always feel very comfortable here, and everyone is so nice. I really enjoy it,” she shared. “The facilities here are amazing. You have a really nice warm-up area and the large indoor if needed, so the horses feel very comfortable. The stalls are amazing too. I really love this horse show.”

Olympic gold medalist Beezie Madden (USA) and the JMS Group’s nine-year-old KWPN gelding Micky-Cara (A Golden Boy Hero Z x Denzel Van Het Meulenhof) stopped the clock in 39.59 seconds to finish second.

Lisa Goldman-Smolen (USA) and Barbara Disko’s eight-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding Solomon B (Cumano BD x Thunder VD Zuuthoeve) stopped the clock in 39.66 seconds to take third.
