Will Martin Scores Second Consecutive $30,000 GGT Footing Grand Prix Victory at WEC – Wilmington

Wilmington, OH – The final Grand Prix of the 2026 World Equestrian Center – Wilmington Summer Series welcomed 16 horse-and-rider combinations to contest the $30,000 GGT Footing Grand Prix. World-renowned course designer Guilherme Jorge (BRA) set the tracks for Saturday’s feature class, where Will Martin (CAN) rose to the top for the second consecutive week, this time aboard Orpen Horses’ May (Casago x Unique P).

Five combinations produced clear first rounds to advance to the jump-off, with Martin qualifying two mounts for the short course. After piloting last week’s winner, One And Only, to another clear effort, Martin elected to save the horse for another day, ultimately finishing fifth.

Grace Long (AUS) was the first to produce a double-clear effort aboard Sarah Scott’s Idial STM Z (Indoctro x Katina). Long and the nine-year-old Zangersheide gelding made quick work of the short course, crossing the timers in 40.351 seconds to set the time to beat.

Martin returned next aboard May, looking to secure his second consecutive Grand Prix victory. He and the nine-year-old KWPN mare raced around the short course, shaving fractions of a second off Long’s leading time to stop the clock in 39.923 seconds and secure the win.

The victory marked Martin’s second consecutive $30,000 GGT Footing Grand Prix win after topping last Saturday’s class aboard One And Only.

Sarah Meier (USA) and her own Nightshade SCF (Baldev x Olisina) delivered the only other double-clear performance of the class. Meier and the 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding crossed the timers in 41.578 seconds to round out the podium in third place.
