Ocala, FL – A Sudden Impulse continued into day three with a strong roster of competition and an exciting schedule of featured classes, including the $25,000 NSBA 3-Year-Old & Over $2,500 Limited Horse Open & Limited Open Western Pleasure, $10,000 NSBA Senior Open Trail & Limited Senior Trail, $10,000 NSBA 3-Year-Old Open & Limited Open Western Pleasure, $5,000 NSBA Open Hunter Derby, $2,000 NSBA Non-Pro Hunter Derby, $2,000 NSBA Senior Pleasure Driving, $2,000 NSBA Amateur Pleasure Driving, and $2,000 NSBA Junior Pleasure Driving.
The day concluded in the WEC Grand Arena with the $25,000 NSBA 3-Year-Old & Over $2,500 Limited Horse Open & Limited Open Western Pleasure. Eighteen entries walked, jogged, and loped along the rail, vying for the championship ribbon, and it was Christopher Holbin and Angela Wade’s Lady Mamalade who walked away with the prize.

Holbin debuted Lady Mamalade in the show ring this week, and he was thrilled with their performance on the rail in this class. “It was one of those times that everything just clicked together. She was extremely soft and let me show her wherever I put her. It was just a really good go,” he shared about riding the 2022 mare by The Lopin Machine x My Mama Said So.
Owner Angela Wade plans to take the reins this weekend and show “Miss Dottie” in a non-pro western pleasure class. Miss Dottie’s dam, My Mama Said So, is out of One Hot Mama Drama, a longtime show partner of Wade’s. Reflecting on her growing partnership with Miss Dottie, Wade shared, “Even though Pleasure isn’t typically one of my main classes, riding her feels like home. She reminds me so much of [My Mama Said So], and [My Mama Said So] is just like One Hot Drama Mama.”

The Limited title was awarded to Mark Zeitler and No Doubt Im A Oh K, owned by Richard and Betty Jo Carr. The 2021 gelding is by No Doubt Im Lazy x OHK Goodbars Krymsun.

The $10,000 NSBA 3-Year-Old Open & Limited Open Western Pleasure kicked off the day in the WEC Grand Arena. Cody Parrish earned the winning title out of 16 entries aboard After Midniite (Nothin But Nett x Itz Showtime), a 2022 gelding owned by Courtney Stephens. “Rooster” was bred and raised by Parrish’s parents, who also raised his sire and dam, making today’s win especially exciting.
As the young horse begins his three-year-old year, he is making a strong impression in the showpen with both Parrish and Stephens. “I showed him at the Congress for the first time; we won the Limited Twos. He just gets better and better—the stronger and more mature he gets.”

“He has a lot of presence in the ring—he’s very pretty, so he just captures your attention. He’s a very consistent horse; that goes a long way in making a good show horse,” Parrish shared about Rooster’s strengths.

Mark Katafiasz Jr. and Cliff Hartman’s 2022 mare, ShesahotMoonRising (Its A Southern Thing x Zizzles Hot Blaze), secured the Limited title for the class.

The experienced 2015 gelding showcased his consistency in the ring. “I’ve been showing him in the derbies for about three years now, so I know him really well. We trust each other and have developed a partnership. I knew I could trust him for those inside turns.”
Painter went on – “The handy round is where he truly shines, and I feel like that’s where we made up ground.”
Looking ahead, the duo is set to return for the 2025 WEC – Ocala Summer Series, “I’ll be here this summer. We love showing in the air-conditioning, plus a lot of the fall championship shows are indoor, so it’s a great time to prepare.”
