Ocala, FL – Another beautiful, sunny Florida day set the scene for day two of A Sudden Impulse AQHA & NSBA Futurity at World Equestrian Center – Ocala. Today’s featured class highlighted the $50,000 NSBA 3 & Over Maiden Horse Western Pleasure & $5,000 Limited Rider Bonuses.
Out of a competitive field of horse-and-rider combinations, it was RJ King and Capital Quarter Horses LLC’s Hay Girl Hayy (Hay Goodlookn x Johnnie On The Spot) who prevailed and walked away with the winning title. King spoke about the 2021 mare, “Capital Quarter Horses bred and raised her. She’s only been to two horse shows, but she felt great. She’s been really good ever since we got here. I’ve been a little stressed out because she’s felt so good, I didn’t want to ruin it before the class,” laughed King. “She’s just an awesome horse. I always say, ‘You just put your quarter in and go’.”
King enjoyed taking his time producing Hay Girl Hayy, “She was a little further behind than the mare that I won the two-year-olds on last year. She just took a little bit because she has such a big move and stays so round and correct. I don’t think she would have been as successful in the two-year-olds as she is now as a three-year-old. I was able to take my time with her, and not push her too fast. She has quite the bright future ahead.”
Hillary Timchak of Capital Quarter Horses LLC was thrilled to see three horses in the class sired by their stud, Hay Goodlookn. “The second-place horse was also out of Hay Goodlookin and Mark Zeitler also had one in the class too. So, three in a big money class with great placings is a pretty good day,” shared Timchak. “Hats off to RJ for making a good horse in a short amount of time!”
Amanda Ringer and Whitney Whidden’s Boyd Crowder (Certainly A Vision x Im Born To Dream) secured the $5,000 NSBA 3 & Over Maiden Horse Western Pleasure – Limited Rider bonus.
