Ocala, FL – The $15,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix was the highlight event of the afternoon as a field of talented horse-and-rider combinations competed over FEI Level III course designer Anderson Lima’s (MEX) intricate tracks. Ultimately, it was Daniel Geitner (USA) who secured a hat trick after winning the class aboard November Hill’s Jalanne (Dynamo x Alanne).

Only four athletes managed to answer all the questions asked in the first round to advance to the immediate jump-off.  “The first round was very nice. All the lines were comfortable. I am still working on rideability with my horse. A lot of the lines were straight lines and interestingly enough are a little hard for a horse like her because she sights in on the next jump. But to be able to do that in a ring like that is fantastic because that’s where they will get away from you,” shared Geitner about Lima’s first round track.

Going into the jump-off, Geitner only had to focus on one thing with the 10-year-old KWPN mare, “She’s so quick, all I needed to worry about was making tight turns. I never have to touch the gas pedal, I just have to steer. For her, the last three jumps on a long gallop are the places where we might have gotten into trouble in the past, but today she was on it.”

The pair dashed around the jump-off track stopping the clock in 38.238 seconds, three seconds faster than second place.

After two hunter derby victories yesterday, and the win this afternoon, Geitner is on a roll, “I am pinching myself. It’s been a great week, and I couldn’t be happier with the horses. But today, I have to thank Jelmer Hoekstra who has been flatting [Jalanne], she felt amazing today, so I got to give him the credit.”
