Ocala, FL — Twenty-two rising young athletes took to the WEC Grand Arena first thing Saturday morning to tackle the Guilherme Jorge-designed $65,000 Grand Prix CSIU25. In the end, it was Della White (USA) who could not be caught in the competitive six-horse jump-off aboard her own Gaufrette des Roches (Montender x Quenotte des Roches).

As the third to go in the jump-off order, White followed Tanner Korotkin (USA), who posted a quick, clear time to beat of 38.71 seconds riding Clermark Equestrian LLC’s 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, Vago Chin Z (Vagabond De La Pomme x Carcia VT Willebeke Z).

White and her 10-year-old Selle Français mare entered the short course and produced a foot-perfect track, stopping the clock in an unbeatable time of 37.36 seconds.

“She is amazing,” White smiled when asked about her careful mare. “I bought her about a year and a half ago. She just fights for me every time we go in the ring and she is perfect. The track today was really set up perfectly for her.”

Amanda Gomez (USA) and Ferme Tandem’s 12-year-old Czech Warmblood gelding, Guibet P, were the final pair to contest the jump-off, edging Korotkin into third place but just shy of the leading time in 38.17 seconds for second place.

White elaborated on her winning jump-off strategy. “I really loved the jump-off, it was perfect for me today. I didn’t know if I was going to go inside the standard or around from one-to-two, but I ended up going inside. I just ran down to the oxer and slipped inside to the butterfly after that, and the combination showed up perfectly. I did five strides to the skinny because my horse has a big stride so it worked out great.”

Additionally, White added her thoughts about WEC, “You never have to leave this property, it is amazing! All of the restaurants are incredible, the stores, the ring. The ring is my favorite part for sure. The Grand Arena is the best part about this place.”
