Ocala, FL – Another beautiful day at World Equestrian Center – Ocala set the stage for the $15,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix. A roster of elite athletes gathered to compete over Colm Quinn’s (IRL) tracks with Richard Rinehart (USA) and Ron Caraway’s Vincent (Van Gogh x Nirande) ultimately emerging victorious.

Nine horse-and-rider combinations found the path to a clear first round, but only four were able to keep all rails up in the jump-off track.
The first double clean ride wasn’t found until the fourth jump-off contender Rachel Schnurr and Copain De Picobello Z stopped the clock at 35.149 seconds with all rails in their cups.

Yesterday’s winner of the $15,000 1.40m Jumper Classic, Camille Maddrix (USA) and Jack Straw were the second pair to find a double clean effort. Maddrix and the small but mighty 13-year-old Selle Francais gelding raced around the short track in 34.764 seconds to take the lead.

Richard Rinehart (USA) followed shortly after aboard the skilled 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Vincent. Rinehart and Vincent were quick to up the ante, finding each fence on an open gallop to stop the clock at a blistering 30.803 seconds to secure the top position on the leaderboard.

Sean Jobin (CAN) and Foxridge Farms Stable’s Eric De La Chenee (Arko x Hadja De Moricerie) were the final pair to attempt Quinn’s jump-off track. Jobin and the scopey nine-year-old Selle Francais gelding didn’t hold back, dashing around the course to stop the clock at 33.982 which was good for the runner up spot.

Camille Maddrix & Jack Straw Prevail in the $15,000 1.40m Jumper Classic

On Friday afternoon, 27 horse-and-rider combinations competed over an opening track set by FEI Level III course designer Colm Quinn (IRL) in the $15,000 1.40m Jumper Classic. Camille Maddrix (USA) and her longtime partner Jack Straw (Quatro De Riverland x Jonquille D’Elle) owned by M&M Sporthorses bested the field capturing the first-place finish by one tenth of a second.

Maddrix and the diminutive 13-year-old Selle Francais gelding found an efficient track in the first round to stop the clock at 73.230 seconds to advance to the immediate jump-off. The pair flew around the short track without pumping the brakes once to stop the clock at 36.591 seconds for the lead.

Today’s Futures Prix winner’s Richard Rinehart and Vincent (Van Gogh x Nirande) owned by Ron Caraway secured the second-place honors during yesterday’s class. The pair made light work of the first round in 72.402 seconds to advance to the jump-off where the pair stopped the clock at 36.734 seconds, just shy of Maddrix’s leading time.

Adelaide Toensing and her own Mic Jagger rounded out the top three with a clean first round time of 71.912 seconds and fast jump-off time of 36.929 seconds, just two tenths of a second behind Rinehart.
