Celebrate the re-release of an exclusive-edition Breyer® in a WEC-branded box honoring America’s War Horse, featuring Author Robin Hutton and Artist Jocelyn Russell
World Equestrian Center will unveil an exclusive-edition Breyer® Model Horse of Staff Sergeant Reckless in a World-Equestrian-Center-branded box during a free event on December 10, 2023 starting at 3:30pm. As a collector’s item, to-date only 3,000 Breyer models made in the American war horses’ likeness are being re-released in WEC-branded boxes.
The real horse, Staff Sergeant Reckless, is honored by World Equestrian Center with a bronze monument of the equine hero that welcomes guests and visitors on the Grand Plaza—one of just six sculptures in the world.
At 3:30pm and 5:30pm, bestselling author Robin Hutton and sculpture artist Jocelyn Russell will each speak as experts during the event dedicated to celebrating the life and service of Staff Sergeant Reckless.
Author of Sgt. Reckless: America’s War Horse (2015), Hutton will share stories and sign copies of her acclaimed biography on the brave Mongolian mare who fought as a Marine in the Korean War.
Integral in the creation of the national monuments erected around the globe honoring Staff Sergeant Reckless, sculpture artist Jocelyn Russell will share detail on her research and the process of making a monument from miniature to finished life-size sculpture.
The exclusive-edition Breyer models will be available for purchase at the event, and will be carried at Mr. Pickles & Sailor Bear Toy Shoppe. Pre-sale orders can be placed online via A Sudden Impulse boutique.
