April 29, 2024 – Ocala, FL – For athletes who want to gain valuable international ranking points, there are three opportunities to compete in Fèdèration Equestre International (FEI) divisions this summer at World Equestrian Center – Ocala (WEC) in Ocala, FL. The 2024 Summer Series offers nine weeks of Premier Hunter/Level 6 Jumper competition including national grand prix classes on June 11-August 11, with the first three weeks also hosting FEI jumper divisions that will award more than $700,000 in prize money.
Summer Series I is the opening week of the series on June 11-16 and offers a CSI2* division including a 1.40m Speed on Wednesday, Grand Prix Qualifier 1.45m on Thursday, a Two Phase Special 1.40m on Friday and the $62,500 WEC Grand Prix CSI2* on Saturday evening under the lights. All FEI classes will be held in the WEC Grand Arena over courses designed by Andy Christiansen (ECU), a Level III course designer who has assisted in course design at prestigious events such as the Pan American Games, FEI World Equestrian Games and South American Games.
Week II is on June 18-23 and hosts CSI3* competition in the WEC Grand Arena with course design by FEI Level IV course designer Guilherme Jorge (BRA), who has designed at the Olympic Games and FEI Jumping World Cup™ Finals. Classes include Two Phase Special 1.40m and 1.45m Speed on Wednesday, the Grand Prix Qualifier 1.50m on Thursday, and the $125,000 WEC Grand Prix CSI3* on Saturday evening.
FEI competition at the 2024 Summer Series wraps up with CSI4*/2* competition on June 25-30. Level IV course designer Alan Wade’s impressive resume includes the FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final and FEI World Equestrian Games™, as well as the Longines League of Nations ™ at WEC – Ocala this past March. Wade (IRL) will design the CSI4* classes, which include a $31,500 1.45m Speed and a 1.40m Speed on Wednesday, the $62,500 Grand Prix Qualifier 1.50m on Thursday, and Saturday night’s $182,000 1.55m Grand Prix.
Level III course designer John Doyle (IRL) will design the CSI2* classes, which start with a 1.40m Speed on Wednesday, a Two Phase Special 1.40m on Thursday, the $31,500 Grand Prix Qualifier 1.45m on Friday, a Two Phase Special 1.45m on Saturday, and the $62,500 1.45m Grand Prix on Sunday morning.
The 2024 Summer Series continues with six more weeks of competition that will be held in the comfort of climate-controlled indoor arenas and temperature-regulated stabling with classes from short stirrup to national grand prix. In addition to FEI competition during Week II, hunters will have the chance to contest the Standlee/USHJA National Hunter Derby South Championship.
