Ocala, FL – International jumping competition is in full swing at the 2025 Summer Series at World Equestrian Center – Ocala. Week IV featured the $65,000 IDA Development Grand Prix CSI2*, which drew a competitive field of 27 horse-and-rider combinations representing 10 nations. Rising to the top was 24-year-old Tanner Korotkin (USA), who could not be caught aboard Sandalwood Farms’ Kinmar Quality Hero (Obos Quality 004 x Moujik De Sohan).
FEI Level III course designer Manuel Esparza of Mexico set a flowing track for Saturday night’s main event. Nine pairs answered all the questions in the first round to advance to the jump-off.

Juan Bancalari (DOM) was first to return for the short course aboard his own Fraxinus Des Coeuries, posting the initial double clear in 48.50 seconds.
The next fault-free effort didn’t come until the third to return—Tanner Korotkin and the 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Kinmar Quality Hero. Coming off a strong fifth-place finish in the previous week’s four-star Grand Prix, Korotkin was aiming to build on their momentum ahead of representing the U.S. at the Nations Cup™ Caledon in Ontario.

“It was a great course. My horse jumped really well here last week. He was fifth in the four-star Grand Prix,” Korotkin shared. “We’re going to a three-star Nations Cup, not next week but the following, so I was using this week as a bit of a lower-level ride to get his confidence going into the Nations Cup.”
According to Korotkin, the jump-off track “really suited” his mount. “He has an enormous stride, and I knew there were a lot of quick horses coming behind me. From one to two, I knew I could gallop over to that. He’s a little tough off the right turn sometimes, and his step is so big—he’s a big guy—but he was very quick with his front end. Then I planned nine to three. We landed a little out to the left, so I was able to gallop up and get that nine. Then I planned another nine to the double verticals. The one got a little bit sketchy there—I ended up hitting my leg on the standard, but thankfully it stayed up.

“After that, there was a tight rollback—hard inside turn for him—and then he jumped the second-to-last vertical really at an angle. He was a good boy there. And then I wasn’t sure eight or nine home, but the ring here in Ocala is unbelievable, and the footing is great. I find the horses really cover the ground, so the second I landed, I locked in on the eight and it was no problem.”

The pair stopped the clock at a blazing 40.47 seconds, a time that held through the rest of the class.
Though still a relatively new partnership, Korotkin and Kinmar Quality Hero are quickly becoming a force at the top levels. “He’s a very, very sweet horse. The biggest thing about him is his bravery and his scope. He could jump any class in the world. And even though I think we are still getting to know each other in some aspects, I think at the four- and five-star level, it’s finally starting to come together. He’s the bravest horse on the planet, and I’m really thankful to be able to grow alongside him.”

Korotkin, a frequent contender at WEC – Ocala, continues to thrive at the venue. “The facilities are incredible, and the footing, in my opinion, is some of the best footing in the country. I’ve been here quite a lot now. All of my horses jump really well here. My second horse, unfortunately, had one down tonight, but two weeks here and he’s jumped five out of six clear rounds. They love the ground, love the courses, love the jumps, and the atmosphere on Saturday night is incredible.”

Australia’s David Cameron came the closest to catching Korotkin’s time with a fast and efficient effort aboard Laura Sloey’s 17-year-old SLS stallion, Beijing Ls La Silla. The pair crossed the timers in 41.18 seconds to secure second place.

Rounding out the podium was Luis Pedro Biraben (ARG) with another impressive finish, this time aboard La Cuadra Stables, LLC’s nine-year-old Warmblood mare, Georgina De Carles. The pair delivered a smooth, clear round in 43.13 seconds.
