Ocala, FL – Thirty developing partnerships put forth their best efforts in the $15,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix with the hopes of securing the top prize. Eight of the 30 entries returned for the jump-off while five found a second clear round. Ultimately Olympic gold medalist William Simpson (USA) and his up-and-coming mount Quentin VA (Quarz x Trixie) owned by Two Socks Farms LLC were victorious over the open tracks built by Joey Rycroft (CAN), despite a tight time allowed.
Harold Chopping and the Rein Family LLC’s 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare Gerderieka II VI (Campbell VDL x Ulderika) led the charge in the jump-off setting the time to beat at 38.999 seconds.
Brooke Kemper and Bayra LLC’s Bayra were the next pair to find a clean jump-off, but was off the pace in 43.554 seconds.
The next double-clean ride was secured by Camille Maddrix and M&M Sporthorses’ Jack Straw (Quatro De Riverland x Jonquille D’Elle). Maddrix and 13-year-old Selle Francais gelding navigated a quick track to stop the clock at 41.773 seconds.
William Simpson entered the arena next aboard the ten-year-old Hosteiner gelding determined to win, “Quentin VA is a super careful and brave horse. He was a little bit of a naughty type as a youngster, but now he’s really becoming a real solid citizen. This is his third futures prix and he’s been clear each time. Today, I wanted to put the hammer down, and get him the win he’s deserves.”
“I was able to watch everyone go and take some notes. I liked the seven in the first roll back to the second jump, but then I added one to the Coca-Cola vertical, because you didn’t want to slice that or else you would get to the combination too deep. The combination came right to him, then I went deep into the rail and came across left to right, so I could make a nice roll back to the vertical. I found the green light to the final fence, so I just went for it.”
The pair shot through the finish stopping the clock at 37.033 seconds to seal the victory.
Simpson has enjoyed showing out in the WEC Stadium this week, “I love a little variety. It’s incredible to have a venue that has so many rings with a different atmosphere and it’s right in our back yard. The facility is top-rated, the footing is perfect, the materials and jumps are fantastic. The course designers are always top-notch, we are so spoiled here. The horses jump better and better each week.”

Santiago Lambre & Nono VD Withoeve Prevail in the $15,000 Taylor Harris Insurance Services 1.45m Jumper Classic
On Saturday morning, a field of 15 starters took to the WEC Stadium with the hopes of securing the $15,000 Taylor Harris Insurance Services 1.45m Jumper Classic victory. FEI Level III course designer Joey Rycroft (CAN) set the elaborate tracks where Santiago Lambre and All in Horses and Jan De Waard’s Nono VD Withoeve (Elvis Ter Putte x Chellana I Z) found the fastest route to secure the number one spot on the leaderboard.
Just five athletes managed to find the path to a clear first round and only three produced a double clean effort.
Santiago Lambre held two of the five spots in the jump-off, leading the charge aboard his very own The Diamant Rose Z. The pair navigated a blistering fast track in 31.307 seconds, but had an unfortunate rail down along the way.
Geronimo Marcello Viana Ciavaglia and Arnoldo Wald Filho’s HST Cartouche were the next pair to advance to the immediate jump-off. The pair raced around the track, not pumping the brakes once for a time of 32.219 seconds to set the pace for the remainder of the class.
The next clear first round was found by Luis Sabino Goncalves and Sigma Stables LLC’s Sigma. Goncalves and Sigma delivered an efficient round in 32.980 seconds with one rail down.
Adelaide Toensing and her own Mic Jagger were the fourth pair to make it to the jump-off. Toensing and the 14-year-old German Riding Horse gelding managed to keep all the rails up in the jump-off but was shy of the time in 34.629 seconds.
Santiago Lambre was the last athlete to find their way to the jump-off. This time he was aboard the ten-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion Nono VD Withoeve. The pair soared around the jump-off track, taking tidy turns while finding each fence right out of stride to stop the jump-off clock at 31.785 seconds to steal the victory.
