Ocala, FL – The second Hunter Derby Friday of the 2025 Spring Series kicked off with the $5,000 UF Veterinary Hospital USHJA National 3’ Open Hunter Derby, followed by the $5,000 USHJA National 3’ Jr/Am Hunter Derby. Course designer Dean Rheinheimer built two flowing tracks for 34 horse-and-rider combinations in Hunter 1 with bending lines, a hedge, and a log trot jump.
In the $5,000 UF Veterinary Hospital USHJA National 3’ Open Hunter Derby, 13 horse-and-rider combinations were seen, but it was Camille Maynard who took the win with Anne Hormel’s Dutton, an eight-year-old Holsteiner gelding by Cannabis Z.

Maynard and Dutton have been paired up since last winter. As an Ocala local, Maynard had the chance to compete with the gelding throughout the 2025 Winter Spectacular Show Series and shared, “Every week, he’s improved and learned. It’s cool that this gets to be the finale for us. He was fourth last week in the derby, and to come back and win this week is awesome.” She continued, “We’ve really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Spring Series this year.”
Maynard and Dutton made an impressive effort in the classic round to earn a score of 89. “I thought the first round rode beautifully. Everything was smooth; everything came up nice. There were a couple of technical parts — maybe the end jump or the bending line from one-to-two, which I thought was one level of technicality up from a normal hunter course. It all flowed nicely, so I thought the course was well designed.”
Returning for the handy, Maynard aimed to find the right recipe to allow the young horse to show off. “I always first think about making good jumps. He’s still a little green at this job, so you always have to balance the handiness and the turns and the good jumps.” The duo was awarded a score of 90 to claim top honors with a two-round total score of 179.

As the horse-and-rider duo accepted their awards, Maynard was joined by her son, a growing young horseman who has evidently inherited his mother’s love for horses. She shared, “He wakes up in the morning and asks to ride his pony, Belle. He does leadline, and he has stick horses. He wants to ride as much as possible. It’s really cute.”

Anna Tyler and Your Welcome BC Came Out on Top in the $5,000 USHJA National 3’ Jr/Am Hunter Derby

Ocala FL- It was all blue skies Friday afternoon as 21 competitors took to the green and bright hunter course designed by Dean Reinheimer to compete in the $5,000 USHJA National 3’ Jr/Am Hunter Derby. Anna Tyler and Don Stewart’s Your Welcome BC (Toulon x Bara BC) came out on top after two impressive rounds.

Tyler and the seven-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding navigated a smooth first round to earn a score of 87. Coming back for the handy round sitting on top, Tyler knew Your Welcome BC would excel, “He’s always so good and he always has my back when we are in the ring.”

With another consistent score of 89 in the handy, the pair took the top spot on the leaderboard with an overall total of 176.
This partnership for Tyler is still quite new, with the 2025 Winter Spectacular Show Series marking their first winter circuit together as a pair where they showed in the 3’6” Small Junior Hunters. “It’s been fun. He’s a really great horse and a lot of fun to ride too!”
