Wilmington, Ohio – Richard Rinehart (USA) and Captain America 10 (Contendro) set the tone for show jumping competition at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington Winter Classic 2 with a win in the $10,000 CWD Welcome Stake.

Rinehart mastered Anderson Lima’s (BRA) tracks and set an early lead with the nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding, “I was just hoping to jump clean. I thought Anderson built a technical track tonight. There were a lot of questions, but it wasn’t set overly large. It was a good introduction to the week for the horses.”

Competition has become a family affair for Rinehart Farm, “I am preparing ‘Captain’ for my son Luke. He had school today, but he is dying to come down here for some of the Welcomes. I really enjoy showing against him now. With Captain he has such a good horse under him, so I am anxious for him to give me a run for my money!”

In great preparation for the weekend, Rinehart stopped the clock in 34.956 seconds to go home with yet another blue to add to the barn.

The 10-year-old Zangersheide mare, Big Girl Z (Big Star JR KZ x Oglaya), shined bright with Sam Pegg (CAN) in the irons, jumping a consistent and quick double clear round in 35.475 seconds to earn a respectable second place.

Last week’s winners, Izzy Beisel (USA) and Vegas H (Valentino x Cobrah) returned once again in top form to secure their third podium placing so far in the Winter in the Midwest series. In 37.631 seconds, the 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding earned the yellow ribbon.
