The biggest international equestrian competition of the year, FEI World Cup™ Finals Omaha 2023, is quickly approaching. Taking place at the CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 4-8, the event will feature the most elite Jumping, Dressage, and Vaulting competitors in the world.
Always drawing gasps from the crowd, the impressive equine efforts and galloping fast speeds make show jumping a highlight. For a chance to compete in Omaha, Jumping athletes have earned points in FEI World Cup™ qualifiers throughout the 2022-2023 season. Number one on the Longines FEI World Ranking List, Henrick von Eckermann of Sweden is unsurprisingly leading the Western European League, while Ireland’s Daniel Coyle is on top in the North American League. Young talent Hunter Holloway has the most points of the U.S. athletes in her bid to return to the Final since her debut in 2022.
This year, FEI Level 4 course designer Bernardo Costa Cabral of Portugal will set the courses for the three phases of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final. The first phase on April 5 is a speed class, followed by a jump-off class on April 6, and then a two-round finale on April 8. In Omaha’s inaugural year of hosting the Final in 2017, it was the U.S. star McLain Ward who hoisted the trophy for the first time after a dazzling performance with longtime partner HH Azur.
Of course, watching the best of the best compete ringside is already a thrill, but the star-studded event in Omaha will be a total equestrian experience from start to finish. The warm-up area is completely accessible for viewing, so spectators can get an up-close look at the moments that lead up to the crowning of a champion. Between classes, attendees will also be able to participate in autograph signings with some of their favorite pros and check out the expo center packed with numerous vendors. Additionally, there will be several exhibitions, clinics, and activities to delight fans of all ages, including a clinic with U.S. Olympic Jumping gold medalist, Melanie Smith Taylor. For the equestrian enthusiast who wants to be more hands on, volunteers can sign up now to be part of the behind-the-scenes magic.
Tickets are still available for purchase and hotel accommodations can be reserved with discounted pricing until March 12. Don’t miss your chance to witness Jumping history. For more information about the FEI World Cup™ Finals Omaha 2023, please visit https://omaha2023.fei.org.
