Ocala, FL – Feature action during week X of the 2023 Winter Spectacular Show Series at World Equestrian Center – Ocala opened with the $24,000 C. Jarvis Insurance Welcome Prix where trailblazers Tracy Fenney (USA) and MTM Apple posted a double clear effort with an uncatchable time for the win.
Catsy Cruz (MEX) laid the welcoming tracks for 22 entries representing seven countries where a an even six earned the chance to jump-off.
Tracy Fenney (USA) and the 12-year-old Danish Warmblood mare (Favorit Ask x Kong’s Whopsie) were the first pair to return to attempt Cruz’s short track, “When I walked the first line, I thought she could do the eight but when I went out there and looked at the angle, I was a bit surprised the angle wasn’t as nice as I hoped. She ended up doing it perfectly and was super tight back to the vertical. She walked down to the Liverpool in seven, then hauled buns over to the in-and-out and she stood up and dove in for the perfect angle to the second to last fence. Once she landed, she just galloped so free and easy to the last.”
The pair soared through the timers in a blistering fast 37.791 seconds which remained on top of the leaderboard for the entirety of the class.
“She blazed it! I couldn’t have asked her to do anything different, she was perfect,” expressed Fenney.
Mallory Vale (USA) found the second fastest time aboard Thinkslikeahorse’s nine-year-old Czech Warmblood gelding Gray’s Inn (Cannavaro x Jena) in 41.882 seconds.
Richard Spooner and Show Jumping Syndications International’s 14-year-old Holsteiner gelding Quirado RC (Quinar x Ursula) rounded out the top three with a quick and clear time of 42.438 seconds.
