WILMINGTON, Ohio – October 4, 2016 – Entries are pouring in for the World Equestrian Center Fall Classic (October 19-23) and the World Equestrian Center Invitational (October 26-30, 2016). Both horse shows are USEF “AA” Premier Hunter – Jumper 4 and offer a combined $500,000 in prize money / prizes. The prize lists for both horse shows are available now on www.horseshowing.com. Stabling during both shows is FREE, courtesy of WEC sponsor and cloud based vaccination records pioneer, eVet.

The two shows will coincide with the unveiling of WEC’s new, state of the art 170’ x 350’ indoor arena and horse show complex which will feature premiere footing and grandstand seating. Steve Stephens will act as jumper course designer for both events. Stephens Designs, the official jump supplier for the most prestigious events in the country, will provide jumper ring jumps.

The WEC’s amenities include an entirely climate controlled facility featuring permanent, matted stalls, four heated indoors and walkways, spacious wash racks, dedicated warm up and lunging areas, access to outdoor arenas and hacking trails.

Feature Classes

The WEC Fall Classic will kick off the two weeks and includes a full slate of Hunter / Jumper competition, including highlights such as:

  • $12,000 Roberts Arena Welcome Stake
  • $30,000 World Equestrian Center Grand Prix
  • $25,000 World Equestrian Center 3’ Hunter Derby
  • $9,500 Futures Prix

During the second week of competition, the WEC Invitational will feature a 3”6” Junior Challenge with trainer pay out ($5,000, $3,000 and $2,000) as well as:

  • $30,000 World Equestrian Center 3’ Hunter Derby
  • $40,000 World Equestrian Center 4’ Hunter Derby
  • $10,000 Futures Prix

There’s something for everyone at these two shows – both a 2’ and 2’6” Hunter division featuring two fences classes and an under saddle have been added to the Fall Classic by popular demand.

Cadets Program Resumes

The popular Cadets Horsemanship Program will resume at the October shows with clinics for junior riders on Saturday, October 22 and Saturday October 29. The program is a unique new opportunity for young riders competing in the junior divisions to learn basic horsemanship skills and earn points that will subsidize the cost of competing at the WEC.

The Cadets Horsemanship program places an emphasis on learning, horsemanship and community service by encouraging young riders to engage in activities hosted and/or approved by WEC such as horsemanship clinics and contests, essay writing, art and photography. For more information about the Cadets Horsemanship Program or to sign up, please email cadets@robertsarena.com.

About World Equestrian Center

Driven by a passion for horses and a commitment to supporting equestrian sports in the United States, the WEC aims to return horse showing to its former grandeur while incorporating an element of fun reminiscent of the horse shows of the past. Located in Ohio’s ‘Golden Triangle’ the venue is less than one hour from Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton airports. For more information please visit www.WEC.net.
