Wilmington, Ohio – Midwest Indoors I commenced as a spate of stunning hunters took to the R+L Arena to contest feature events during Derby Friday including the $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby – Open and $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby – Non-Pro. Course designer Keith J. Bollotte set a beautiful winding course of natural fences that offered riders the opportunity to show off their horse’s brilliance and adjustability.
Tough first round competition in the $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby – Open saw Tammy Provost and Dean Burger’s Red Label emerge to sit atop the leaderboard with a score of 91, the only pair to break into the 90s. Provost returned with the stylish eight-year-old chestnut Dutch Warmblood gelding for the handy round, producing a brilliant performance to earn a 94 for a combined score of 185 and the win.
