Ocala, FL – Feature class action for Week VIII of the 2022 Winter Spectacular Show Series closed today with the $15,000 WEC Ocala 1.45m Jumper Classic. FEI Level II course designer Colm Quinn (IRL) created the winding tracks that allowed five entries to navigate clear first rounds, but it was Santiago Lambre and his new mount All In Horses Cava (Cadensky x Licara) that stole the show.
Lambre (BRA) and the 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding were the last horse-and-rider combination to enter the WEC Grand Arena, producing a clear first round in 67.987 seconds.
All In Horses Cava is a brand new partner for Lambre, “The horse arrived on Wednesday. I showed him yesterday in the Futures Prix, where I had to make a circle because the bit wasn’t working for him. Today, I changed the bit and he was great. He was jumping the 1.50m competitively in Europe, so this is easy for him,” said Lambre.
Lambre and All In Horses Cava advanced to the jump-off and rolled through the track making light work of each fence to stop the clock at 34.012 seconds for the win.
“This was such a great improvement from yesterday. I think he can do the grand prix next week. He is an extremely fast and scopey horse, so I am excited to be competitive with him,” expressed Lambre.
Sharn Wordley (NZL) and his own Gatsby (Simba x Daisy Cruise) earned second place. Wordley and the 18-year-old Irish Sport Horse stallion delivered a superb first round in 64.133 seconds, well within the time allowed of 75 seconds. Wordley and Gastby were the first pair in the class to manage a clean jump-off in a blazing fast time of 35.952 seconds to ultimately earn second place.
Scott Keach (AUS) and his own Wild Thing (Caracas x Wild Oats) rounded out the top three in today’s $15,000 WEC Ocala 1.45m Jumper Classic. Keach and Wild Thing produced a smooth first round in 70.690 seconds. Keach and the 10-year-old Warmblood gelding advanced to the jump-off galloping through the course, while jumping each fence with ease to secure a time of 38.671 seconds.
